At Vision Action, we are committed to advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) through our core pillars: strengthening eye health systems, building local capacity, and ensuring equitable access to care. We recognise that visual impairment is more than a health issue, it is a key driver of inequality, affecting education, employment, gender equity, and economic stability.

The Sustainable Development Goals are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that everyone, regardless of where they are born, can enjoy peace and prosperity. They remind us that global progress is only meaningful if it is inclusive, equitable, and sustainable. In a world facing overlapping crises, the SDGs offer hope, direction, and a shared responsibility to build a future where no one is left behind.
Our work directly supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) by addressing vision impairment as a barrier to education, employment, and well-being. By providing school-based screenings, glasses, and access to treatment, Vision Action helps break the cycle of poverty (SDG 1), improves health outcomes (SDG 3), and enhances educational opportunities for children (SDG 4). Its focus on inclusion supports gender equality (SDG 5) and reduces inequalities in healthcare access (SDG 10). Vision Action ensures long-term impact by empowering individuals to work productively (SDG 8) and partnering with governments to strengthen national eye care systems (SDG 17), transforming lives and communities across Sub-Saharan Africa.
