Runner Spotlight: Joe Szweda – Finding Motivation in Every Mile

We’re four days away from the TCS London Marathon 2025. Today, we shine the spotlight on Joe Szweda as we continue to celebrate the incredible people running for Vision Action.

Joe has faced the full force of winter in his training journey, but he’s kept going with one goal in mind: making a difference for those living with visual impairment. “Running can be challenging enough in nice weather, but adding freezing temperatures and rain makes it very difficult to lace up my shoes and get running,” he admits. And yet, his dedication hasn’t wavered.

For Joe, running for charity is more than just a challenge, it’s a calling. “It’s such an amazing feeling working towards helping people,” he says. “After the London Marathon, I want to look into my next fundraising event!”

Knowing that his efforts are supporting Vision Action and helping expand access to eye care globally keeps him focused: “It really helps motivate me that my efforts are directly influencing people who need the support of a fantastic charity.”

Joe’s aiming to complete the marathon in under four hours. And when he finally crosses that finish line? “A comfy seat and as much food as I can eat!” he laughs.

We’re so proud to have Joe on Team Vision Action. Every mile he runs is a step closer to a world where everyone has the chance to see clearly.
