Running for a Vision – Meet Our Marathon Stars

With just weeks to go until the TCS London Marathon 2025, we’re proud to celebrate the inspiring individuals lacing up their trainers in support of Vision Action. Among them is Karen, an optometrist who’s been clocking up the miles in sun, wind, and rain – all to support our mission of improving access to eye care worldwide.

Karen recently completed a 20-mile training run in the York sunshine and is counting down the final three weeks before the big day. “I love the training,” she shared. “There’s nothing better than running with friends and ticking the runs off week by week, even in the dark, cold January weather.”

While training for a marathon is no small feat, Karen says the time commitment has been the biggest challenge. But with a support network of fellow runners, she’s found strength and joy in the process.

Running for Vision Action has added a deeply personal layer of motivation: “As an optometrist, I know how much eye care and vision correction can mean to an individual. It’s been a huge motivator knowing that my efforts will help improve lives.”

Karen’s aiming for a personal best of under 3 hours 45 minutes, and once she crosses that finish line? “Pizza, cake, and most definitely a much awaited glass of champagne!”

We are incredibly grateful to Karen and all our 2025 London Marathon runners for their passion, commitment, and energy. Their efforts are helping us shine a light on avoidable vision loss and the urgent need for accessible eye care.

Let’s cheer them on as they take on 26.2 miles of determination and heart!
